Announcing the 2016 In-N-Out Burger Run. Once again it will be Thursday night before the Ice Cream Social. We will be meeting up starting at 5:45 by the Starbucks in the Marriott lobby. I will be wearing a black In-N-Out. I will try to match up those who have transportation with those needing it, but the majority of our participants walk, as a group, to the In-N-Out. Once there, I will be handing out special ribbons for being there. Please stick around for the photo that will be posted here. Its open to everyone and is a way to meet people before the convention officially starts. See you all then!

The modern series of Doctor Who has featured each companion doing remarkable and sometimes super human things… but in the meanwhile, there are massive cries for returning back to the old paradigm of a perfectly normal ‘regular person’ stepping into those shoes for the next round. We’ll discuss the evolution of the role of the companion, including addressing some of the reasons why people might be over the larger than life companion role (and why there are sometimes sexist notions behind that), and debating why developing the companion back into a supporting player might not be the best thing for the show in 2016.

Doctor Who’s rich tapestry of storytelling often falls to fan service; often times we find ourselves looking forward solely to that twist that brings back a familiar face, a villain we cannot live without, or a voyage to Gallifrey or otherwise. But how does this shrink the canvas Doctor Who plays out upon? We’ll take a look at where continuity supersedes good storytelling… and why, paradoxically, the conservatism of some parts of fandom begets the notion that fans of a show about change seem to dislike change entirely.
Having come to Doctor Who as an adult in 2008, as modern Series Four was being broadcast, Marcia dubbed herself a "Neowhovian"—both a new fan and a fan of the "new" show. She quickly became a fan of the entire run, both Classic and modern, and since January 2011 has blogged regularly... Read More →

Gary Russell, Jason Haigh-Ellery and Mark Oliver bring us a special sneak-peek at PRISONER ZERO, the new Australian science fiction animated series coming in 2016. It's a brand-new animated sci-fi series aimed at 8-12 year olds - and beyond!!
'Prisoner Zero' is a science-fiction adventure series for kids. It tells the story of Gem Coll and Tag Anaton, two teenagers from different worlds, living aboard a spaceship called Rogue. They travel to alien worlds to fight monsters from ancient times, free the oppressed from the evil Imperium's tyranny and find out just who Prisoner Zero is and why the Imperium took away his memories. Leading the fight is Zero himself, aided by Gem's adoptive parents Del and Bowi Rev, the mysterious alien known only as Librarian and Tag's personal protection android, Guardian. The Imperium is masterminded by the sly, manipulative General Vykar along with his handpicked team: Prime Tactician Barqel and Prime Assassin Lady Kai.
Created by an army of young animators, Planet 55 Studios' new show pulls together a powerful struggle of good versus evil. Gallifrey One’s annual charity event, taking place starting Sunday at 12:30pm… and this year hosted by our own Tony Lee and Richard Dinnick (who promise to keep it at or under three hours! This train’s gonna run on time!)
This year, as we’ve announced, the charity auction – as always, named in honor of our dear friend, the late Bob May of "Lost in Space" fame – will be benefitting the LUMOS Foundation, the organization started by J.K. We’ve partnered with Nerder Mysteries, a long time supporter of LUMOS, for our convention-wide game, "Let Zygons Be Zygons". You can check in about the game at any time at the Nerder Mysteries table in the Exhibitor Table hallway.
Donations for the auction are always accepted and this year, you can drop off your donations at the first door down the Exhibitor Table hallway, right behind our Member Services desk. Please see the Charity Auction page on our website to find out what kinds of donations we accept.
